Freshwater Ecology and Ecotoxicology Lab
The Freshwater Ecology and Ecotoxicology Lab at Macquarie University is Australia's leading laboratory for groundwater and community ecotoxicology research.
Our aim is to undertake ground breaking research on the ecology of groundwater and surface freshwater environments and the impacts of pollution and environmental change on them. Our goal is to better understand and protect these ecosystems through the development of robust and protective environmental quality criteria and guidelines for assessment.
Our research lab is well equipped with sampling and analysis equipment for investigating surface and groundwater ecosystems, including constant temperature cabinets and rooms, molecular (eDNA) analysis capabilities, high-level microscopy, water quality analytical equipment and a field mesocosm system on campus.
Our research team is a friendly group of postdocs, PhD students, Masters of Research (MRes), undergraduate project students and research assistants.
